If there is a decrease in male population because of war, but the male/female population naturally rebalances itself, how much is a chicken n rib combo plate at the Dinosaur BBQ?

  2. Caroline Davidson

Seriously though, what should be the top focus for releasing an album independently? Overall and specifically marketing.

  21. Here’s what an A&R man recently had to say about the labels. “It’s no secret that there won’t be record labels in 10 years — the industry isn’t going away, it’s changing,” Ref; National Post http://life.nationalpost.com/2012/01/20/i-want-your-job-ar-man-bryan-columbus/
Now we’ve been hearing about the demise of the majors for years, and while there has been a culling (so now we’re down to 3 real majors), it’s starting to look like this consolidation has served to make UMG into one massive giant conglomerate – perhaps stronger than ever? (did the Biebs and Nickleback save the industry? – j/k)
On another note, Ron Paul’s comments on SOPA and censorship are interesting and provocative. Regardless of your current POV on this, I think there is a valid fear / concern for too much government overreach in this area. Even though I am in support of copyright law and the right of artists to be paid for their work; I can also appreciate the concerns expressed by the tech gods.
